a good machine, October 26, 2005 By K. Carnine
I purchased this sewing machine just before Christmas. I love it. It is very solidly built. The other sewing machines I've owned have been Singers which I liked very much. But you can tell that the Europro is just a better quality sewing machine. It stitches very nicely. My machine came with a lot of different sewing feet. I am very pleased with my sewing machine and with the price that I got it at.

Customer Reviews

After 30 years of using uprights, the switch to a canister vacuum meant I spent a little time climbing the learning curve, but the suction power of this machine is awesome (in a home with two dogs and two cats). My carpets have never been cleaner. Yes, the dirt cup fills quickly, but it is easily emptied into a garbage can in the garage, and the filter cleans quickly with the provided tool.

The downsides of this vacuum are 1) the hose should be about one foot longer (when cleaning stairsteps by hand) and, 2) the canister is constantly hanging up against a piece of furniture or at a hallway corner (although I have found that by keeping the trailing hose in my other hand, I can usually keep moving right along).

I purchased this machine in September for $213, so maybe prospective buyers should be on the lookout for future price declines.

Overall, highly recommended.

This Machine Sucks!, February 4, 2009 By Terrence Feenstra "Story Lover" (Sioux City, Iowa)
This vacuum is much better than I expected. Our last one died after about 4 years and granted it was abused and not well maintained. But a lot of that was due to not really being a user serviceable vacuum. This Hoover came with a manual that gives complete descriptions on how to replace all the parts/belts! That alone will make me more likely to attempt to replace the parts.

As for operation we've only had it a few days. It is easy (logical) to use. Suction is amazing. We have primarily hardwood floors with several floor rugs on which it works real well. Very strong suction so the smaller rugs seem to easier to vacuum on the lowest suction setting.

Oh, and did I mention quiet? This vacuum is significantly quieter than any other we've had. Certainly helps with not freaking the dogs out. Sheba lays there looking at it instead of running off.

Update: Aug 6 2009

A month later and the vacuum is still working and has good suction. One thing we have run into is the pet fur from the Great Pyrenees clogs up the brush roller. We have to manually clean out the long fur with the little cleaning tool they provide before each vacuum and sometimes once again during the same vacuum session. Obviously if you don't have dogs with long fur this may not be a real issue. Still impressed with the amount of dirt it does pick up which is why the canister has to be emptied so frequently.

Miele Cat & Dog

Miele Cat & Dog: Product Description

A vacuum cleaner designed to make life with pets more comfortable. You would never give up sharing your home with your pet. You could never get along without the love and joy that comes along with a beloved cat or dog. They're simply a part of the family. Unfortunately, one of the downsides is having to live with persistent odors and thousands of loose hairs on your furniture and flooring. It's a problem most of us are willing to accept. To solve this problem, Miele introduces the Cat & Dog: A special machine with a powerful motor and powerbrush to remove pet hairs and a unique, active charcoal filter system that efficiently removes odors from the exhaust air. Here's how: Airflow is the secret to removing all those pet hairs and odors. It helps lift them from smooth surfaces, pulls them off furniture and clears them from the corners and nooks. The secret behind the airflow is a powerful, 1200-watt motor. Despite its incredible power, it's also exceptionally quiet; so quiet, you'll even be able to hear the phone or doorbell ring. The unique rib cage design allows air to circulate around the entire dustbag, preventing clogs and maximizing airflow, even as the dustbag fills. The completely sealed system reduces suction loss and ensures the thorough removal of all particles and odors from the exhaust air. The Miele Active Air Clean filter combines two incredible mediums into one, superb design. One technology filters the air of microscopic particles; the other removes odors. Sandwiched in a plastic casing between two layers of electrostatic filters is a dense layer of Generally Activated Charcoal (GAC). GAC is designed to remove all types of odors; pet odors, smoke even perfumes. Once these particles come in contact with the charcoal, they are locked in place permanently. The electrostatic filters use static electricity to capture airborne particles and remove them from the airflow. Perfect with homes with Pet Hair

Hair be gone. It's great!, April 18, 2009 By N. Thorson (Chicagoland, IL)

After spending money on the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser and wishing I hadn't, I bought the Miele Cat & Dog. Yes, it's a lot of money, but it's totally worth it. I have five cats, and one with long hair (all strays). The Miele picks up all of the hair without clogging. It's small, but mighty. Miele makes a fantastic vacuum! Miele S516 Cat & Dog Canister Vacuum Cleaner w/ STB 101 Handheld Turbo Brush

One note: If you do buy the vacuum, your suction hose will have two prongs at the end. The manual doesn't tell you, but you have to remove the small rectangular plastic piece that's below where the hose fits in for the prongs to fit.
love it, January 6, 2010 By Mara (GA United States)

I just received the Miele Cat & Dog vacuum, and I love it...now the dog hair comes off the sofa and the stairs in a flash...and it's easy to handle and store.

Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners

Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners, May 16, 2009 By GeekDaddy (New England USA)

I have a rainbow canister that I have decided to retire do the intensive assembly required for its operation. You have to fill the tank with water then place it it's caddy, place the motor on top of tank and then attach the hose from the power head to the motor. Then do the reverse to empty the water from the tank. So I decided to get an upright that you can just plug in and go.

I'm not sold yet on the bag less uprights so I decided to go with the old tried and true one's with a bag. I first looked at the Eureka Upright Vacuum Cleaner 1934A, had an impressive review but no attachments and only a 5 amp motor and a little more than I wanted to spend.

Next I reviewed this Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners model, but with some trepidation, as I have always had this impression of substandard construction and performance.

I was surprised by all the positive reviews, it had the attachments I wanted as I have these dust bunnies from hell made up of dog hair in places the main motor can't reach; it has a powerful 12 amp motor compared to the 5 amp for the Eureka; so I decided to purchase the Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners and hold my breath.

When it arrived I found the instructions simple ( but the pictures in the instructions were to small) but had the impression I was assembling a kids toy at Christmas time. It required only 5 screws for it's assembly. The handle was made out of lightweight hollow plastic and the attachments had a cheap quality to them, but I was resigned to be objective and hold off any judgment until I actually had a chance to use it.

Once started, the motor had a roar just slightly less than that of a Boeing 747 at take off
. It glided over my high-low carpet with ease and even handled this weaved runner in front of my sink area with ease, my Rainbow did not handle that runner very well. It would bounce and jerk and even pulled some of the weaving out; also my Rainbow would, on occasion, spit out these hairballs made of dog hair and carpet fuzz. The Dirt Devil hasn't so far.

In some reviews there has been some complaint of the effort necessary to extract the hose from the motor to use the attachments; this I to noticed. You have to twist and pull it from it's mounting in at the motor. I sprayed so dry silicone lubricant on the exterior of the neck (see my cust pic) and that seem to improve the effort necessary to remove it. Once you do have the attachments I was impressed of the suction it had. This puppy can suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. Another reviewer wrote " it looks cheap and screams cheap" I to agree but for 40 bux I was impressed with its performance overall, that is, if you can ignore it's light weight construction. I my opinion, the promotion of it being light weight is more of a Madison ave. attempt to rationalize it's construction.

If this Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners holds up for a few years, I'll consider it money well spent. Below are some stats I got off another website that may help with your decision on wither to purchase this model.

I know I have been critical of some features of this vacuum, but it you consider the cost divided by its over all features. Its money well spent

Great Vac for the Price, July 20, 2009 By anonymguy "anamika" (Phoenix, AZ USA)

Great product for the price..

Pros:
- Plastic seems recycled, if it is in fact recycled hats-off to Dirt Devil.
- Noise level is decent.
- It sucks very well (I have a tile floor).
- Ran it on a rug, it was making some interesting noise, other than that looks and feels like it cleaned very well.
- Boy, this is light !
- Rolls effortlessly.

Cons:
- Looks and screams CHEAP
- Very cheap and low quality hose, I am pretty sure it will break or get . I have a roll of duct tape standing by.

Overall, very good vacuum for the price (I paid 39.99 here) - If it lasts even 2 yrs. My previous 60$ vac lasted for about 5.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaner Parts

Product Description

Equipped with Dyson's signature Ball technology, this upright vacuum cleaner easily twists and turns around furniture and obstacles for thorough cleaning throughout the house--no more missed angles or tiresome back-and-forth vacuuming. Its ball design encapsulates the machine's powerful motor, creating a low center of gravity for even easier maneuverability. Designed for homes with pets, the unit's motorized brushbar features powerful bristles that remove dirt and pet hair from carpets, while its mini turbine head thoroughly cleans confined spaces such as upholstery, stairs, and the car. It also supplies a quick-draw Telescope Reach wand, which expands to offer 16 feet of reach for stairs, drapes, upholstery, and more. The vacuum cleaner uses Root Cyclone technology to separate dirt from the air by centrifugal force, which ensures efficient cleaning with no clogging or loss of suction.

For cleaner expelled air, the unit comes with a washable lifetime HEPA filter that traps microscopic allergens such as pollen and bacteria. In fact, the air expelled from a Dyson has up to 150 times less bacteria and mold than the air you breathe, and all Dyson uprights are certified asthma friendly by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. The unit's hygienic 1/3-gallon bin quickly empties without ever having to touch the dust--just press the button and dust empties from the bottom; the clear polycarbonate bin also allows for easily viewing the cleaning progress and gauging when it needs to be emptied. Other highlights include fingertip controls, a constant suction power of 220 air watts, a 24-3/5-foot cord, a maximum reach of 40-2/7 feet, and a lightweight design at only 16-1/8 pounds. On-board accessory tools include a combination tool and a stair tool attachment. The vacuum cleaner measures 12-1/5 by 15-2/5 by 42-2/5 inches and carries a five-year parts-and-labor warranty.

  • Dc25 Animal Really Picks Up - I Vacuumed The Entire House In Less Than Half The Time- Because It Really Sucks Up The Dirt And Animal Dander. The Ball Is Incredible For Manuevering. Two Years Ago I Purchased The Top Of The Line Oreck. Loved The Lightweight Of This Vacuum But The Vacuum Does Not Pick Up At All. From Little Grains Of Sand To Big Fuzzes- Just Not A Powerful Suction. I Have To Go Over The Same Spot 6 Times- Worst Part Is That Oreck Does Not Stand Behind It's Product. 4 Tune Ups In Two Years. 800.00 Down The Drain. What A Terrible Waste Of Money.
No Maintenance, No Bags, Dc25 Seems Perfect To Me. I Would Highly Recommend This Product!

  • But in a good way of course lol! I have two dogs, berber carpet in the bedrooms and pergo in the hallways and downstairs areas. This thing does a great job of getting the dirt and pet hair up. The only thing I would change is to not make the micro-bristles come on automatically when u start it.. but you can turn it off just by hitting the button for it so no big deal. Overall a good product. I can't say if it is better than the cheaper dyson brands, as I've never actually owned one before this.. but I figured why not get the best since I'll need one for quite awhile. :)
Well.. It does suck.., March 26, 2009

  • Over the years my husband and I have owned a number of vacuums. We have had the DC25 Animal since July 2009. We have always had animals, and currently own 3 heavy-coated dogs. They have a long over-coat and wooly under coat, both constantly shedding fur.
This vacuum, as my husband puts it, kicks 7 levels of butt. It really does a brilliant job cleaning the carpets from the tons of dog fur. In addition, the design of the brush with its easy removal and easy cleaning is the best design ever. Our last vacuum(Hoover bagless) died from repeatly requiring that the brush assembly be taken apart to clean it of long fur. It was an absolutely agonizing task to clean the brushes. Not so the dyson, it is really easy - a brilliant design. This has been the best vacuum I have ever used - no doubt. Excellent design, fairly light, moves easiy, and doesn't make that gross "vacuum smell".
    Love it!!!!!!!!

  • Kirby Breakdown Best Thing To Happen To Us!, January 2, 2010
We have had a Kirby G4 for 15 years and thought it was working great. It broke down on us the other day and as it turns out it was the best thing that could have happened to our carpets/general house cleanliness. I did things a bit backwards (reading the reviews AFTER we bought the product) since we needed the vacuum fast. I ran to Target and bought this vacuum (only spending $75 thinking we would keep it as our downstairs vacuum and repair the Kirby). Boy were we WRONG. My wife and I were purely disgusted by what we pulled out of our carpeting/upholstery. We have 2 kids and 2 cats. The cat hair, general grime and fine dust we pulled out of our carpet was revolting to say the least. I had to empty the canister about a dozen times before I was done and then fully clean the filters, etc. afterwards. Here we thought we had the real-deal with our Kirby and now it's going to the dump on Saturday! This is our first bagless vacuum and I must say it sounds like we totally lucked out by purchasing this after reading the reviews. I would go along with the rest in recommending this for pet owners. I'm curious to see how my friend who is allergic to cats does the next time he is here (things didn't go so well for him last time). The only downfall is the short hose for using the attachments. However the Zipbrush works WAY better than the Kirby one so it's worth the pain of the short hose. What a blessing in disguise!

  • Great vacuum! Picks up everything!, December 17, 2009
Having been through a few vacuums in the past few years, I decided to try out this vacuum and hope for the best.
I have to say that it has done its job well and then some. Its very easy to clean it once the container is full as well.
Its a bit quieter than my last vac as well, so that is a bonus. The handheld vacuum addon that comes with it is great forcouches and seats. Overall, its a great buy that I highly recommend!

Dirt Devil Hepa Filter

Product Description

Customer Reviews Dirt Devil Hepa Filter

Factory filters equivalent to what I buy anywhere at $25 each. These filters seem to be the same as the ones at Best Buy. Cost is low enough I can change filters when I want to - recommended is once per year but I prefer once a quarter. I can afford to do that now!

Dirt Devil Hepa Filter Turbo Vision By Gene

I bought two brand new Dirt Devil filters for about half of what it would have cost me in a "big box" store. I received: the filters in brand new condition in good packaging and before the expected delivery date. Who could ask for more? I would highly recommend this seller.

Great Deal, February 14, 2009 By Charles L. Moran III

Bought this a month after my wife accidentally threw off the old filter.
Dirt Devil Hepa Filter Pros:

  1. Excellent filtration of dust. Either the original/OEM filter was substandard or probably had a tear - our dark furniture used to get a fine patina of dust and we had assumed that it was time for a new vacuum.
  2. Fit like a glove into my DirtDevil Vision and has been effective in keeping the dust well inside and away from the motor ever since.
  3. The filter life can be extended easily by enclosing the filter in a plastic bag and hitting the black base on a wall/ground and getting as much dust out of it as possible (very easy to clean this way).
  4. OEM filter costs more than double as per DirtDevil repair center and even in Target/Walmart!

Cons:
None whatsoever after 8 months of using ONE of those filters!
